Silent GearTinkers-style modular tools — pick materials, stack traits, repair forever
About
The spiritual successor to Tinkers' Construct (which isn't on 1.21 yet). Build tools, weapons, and armour from interchangeable parts — each part contributes stats and special traits to the finished item. Pick a Diamond core for durability, a Blaze rod for fire damage, a Slimewood handle for haste. Repair with the same material you used to build. Tools never break — they hit 0 durability, become unusable, and you re-grade them at a Repair Kit. Silent Gear adds data-driven tools, weapons, armor, elytra, and curios built from parts such as Pickaxe Heads, Tool Rods, Armor Plates, Tip Upgrades, and Coatings. Progression uses Blueprints, Templates, the Stone Anvil, Material Grader, Alloy Forge, Recrystallizer, and Starlight Charger to tune materials like Crimson Steel, Azure Electrum, Blaze Gold, and Tyrian Steel.
Getting started
Use the Blueprint Package if the pack gives you one on first join; it normally provides basic tool blueprints. If not, make a Stone Anvil from cobblestone and dirt, craft a Crude Knife from cobblestone, dirt, and sticks, then cut logs on the Stone Anvil into Template Boards. Use JEI for recipes and craft a Material Book for in-game material stats.
What you can do
- Craft Silent Gear tools from Blueprints, such as Pickaxe Blueprint + material + Tool Rod into a Pickaxe.
- Make armor with Helmet/Chestplate/Leggings/Boots Blueprints, Armor Plates, and optional Armor Lining.
- Add Tip Upgrades, such as a Diamond Tip Upgrade, to raise harvest tier without rebuilding the whole tool.
- Repair gear with Repair Kits instead of replacing finished tools and armor.
- Use the Material Grader with Glowing Dust, Blazing Dust, or Glittery Dust to roll material grades from E up to MAX.
- Build the Starlight Charger to apply Star Charged bonuses to materials before crafting parts.
Endgame goals
A top setup uses high-grade Tyrian Steel, Azure Electrum, or pack-added materials, then Star Charges them in a Starlight Charger. The full Starlight Charger structure places the charger in the center of a 7x7 area with four 3-block pillars capped by Crimson Steel Block, Azure Electrum Block, or Tyrian Steel Block, with starmetal dust for tier 3 charging. Use the Alloy Forge and Recrystallizer to make late Silent Gear alloys before final tools, armor, elytra, and curios.
Integrations with other AYN mods
- JEI — shows Blueprint, Template, Material Grader, Alloy Forge, Recrystallizer, and Starlight Charger recipes.
- Curios API — enables Silent Gear rings and bracelets in Curios slots.
- Silent's Gems — gem materials register for Silent Gear when both mods are installed.
- Immersive Engineering — Metal Press sheet metal can be used for Silent Gear elytra wings.
- Mekanism — Osmium, Refined Obsidian, and Refined Glowstone have Silent Gear material support through common tags.
- AllTheOres — common ingot tags provide pack metals such as silver, lead, nickel, zinc, and uranium as material inputs.
