About
Plant ANY crop in a single-block pot — wheat, carrots, Pam's tomatoes, Mystical Agriculture seeds, even saplings (mini-trees!). No need to till farmland or worry about light/water. Pots are stackable (vertically and side-by-side) for compact greenhouses. Combine with Botany Pots: Mystical for MA seeds + Fertilized Dirt for faster growth. Botany Pots adds standalone grow pots for crops, flowers, mushrooms, and other plant recipes using a compatible soil item plus a seed or crop item. The core blocks are Botany Pot, Hopper Botany Pot, and Waxed Botany Pot, with terracotta, glazed terracotta, concrete, brick, stone brick, and other material variants.
Getting started
Make a Botany Pot first, then right-click it to insert a soil such as Dirt or Farmland and a crop such as Wheat Seeds, Carrot, or Nether Wart. Early ingredients are clay-based: collect Clay from river, swamp, or ocean beds, then smelt or craft it into Bricks and Terracotta as JEI shows for your chosen pot variant. There is no separate guidebook; use JEI's Botany Pots "Crops" and "Pot Interaction" categories.
What you can do
- Grow crops in a Botany Pot and right-click to harvest and replant them.
- Upgrade to a Hopper Botany Pot for automatic harvest, replanting, a 12-slot internal inventory, and output into the block below.
- Put a harvest tool in a Hopper Botany Pot to affect drops; Efficiency increases growth speed, while Fortune and Looting can increase yield.
- Use a Waxed Botany Pot as a decorative fully-grown plant display that cannot be harvested or bonemealed.
- Use pot interactions such as hoeing Dirt into Farmland inside the pot or lava-based Obsidian recipes.
- Match builds with variants like White Glazed Hopper Botany Pot, Brick Botany Pot, and End Stone Brick Waxed Botany Pot.
Endgame goals
A top setup is a wall of Hopper Botany Pots feeding drawers, item pipes, or an Applied Energistics 2 ME network. For Mystical Agriculture setups, the Botany Pots Mystical Agriculture Compat addon lets high-tier seeds use tiered farmland such as Supremium Farmland and Insanium Farmland, with harvest tools carrying Curse of Idle Hands plus Efficiency or Fortune.
